Jay teaches himself stop motion animation
Here you can see a bunch of videos charting how I taught myself stop motion animation.
Was fretting over capture devices as I use a Canon DC 320 mini-dvd camcorder. I thought I’d have to buy a new camera because there is no USB port. After some research I found that I could hook it up, but it would have to be daisy chained through a couple of different items. Just got a minijack to composite cable splitter that goes out of the camera’s AV port (like a headphone port). Connected that to an Easy Cap composite to USB capture card. Connected that to my usb port, loaded it’s software and driver. Downloaded the trial version of SMP, watched their online tutorial for how to make this all work, and did a simple test. I can’t be any happier. This $30 solution has saved me time and money, and will work fine for my purposes. One thing is that the Easy Cap is getting very warm. As I’ll shoot for hours on end, that worries me a bit. I’ll put a fan on it.
